Intermediate Interior Designer

The Opportunity:

Our Team is growing and iN STUDIO has an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate Designer.

The Intermediate Designer role focused on the production, review and coordination of design activities, construction related documentation and contract administration. You will continue to gain experience, demonstrate ongoing and further proficiency in multiple areas of the design project.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrated ability to produce, review and coordinate design and construction related documents using AutoCad, Revit, SketchUp
  • Take ownership of Contract Administration duties
  • Effectively and independently manage daily tasks under the leadership of a Senior Interior Designer.
  • Ability to delegate and provide direction and oversee a or a small team of Junior designers
  • Manage internal and external project team communications as needed
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with clients regarding daily job activity.
  • Support senior staff with client site visits and meetings as required
  • Coordinate with vendors and sub-consultants in engineering to ensure the designed interior space meets with regulatory building codes.
  • Ability to manage the completion of a Permittable set of drawings, inclusive of all dialogue with subconsultants.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail in both drawings and design activities.
  • Ensure work progress and deliverables are communicated regularly to senior staff and pro-actively and properly explained and handed over for coverage when/if as needed within the team
  • Industry Participation – Attendance at non-industry related events and ID industry events as a representative of iN Studio.
  • Active participation with firm activities
  • Successfully completed the NCIDQ examination

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience as an Interior Designer in a design firm
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, M. Arch/ID
  • NCIDQ, ARIDO (registered or candidate)
  • LEED Certification is an asset
  • Proven experience working with Corporate Workplace design projects including renovation and new construction & contract administration
  • Excellence in test-fits and space planning,
  • Technically strong in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suites and Microsoft Office
  • Strong knowledge of codes and regulations with design aspects in Canada & OBC
  • Ability to work independently on projects without direct supervision
  • Passion for design with a creative and innovative perspective
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Works well with a team

Senior Interior Designer

If you are eager to unleash your creativity working on high-quality interior design projects, then this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

As a Senior Designer, you have a clear understanding of the tasks, energy and experience required by others to complete a project from front to back. Corporate Workplace needs to be front and center for you to be successful in this role and you should be skilled at seamlessly translating the client’s needs into high-quality, innovative, forward-thinking design concepts that meet their vision and expectations.

Your focus will be largely at the front end of project delivery and will encompass strategy, visioning, and the full creative process from beginning to end. This leadership role is suited to a seasoned designer who not only has great vision and exceptional creative spark, but who can also lead a team of intermediate and junior designers to craft an award-winning custom design solution for each project.

Accountabilities:

  • Reporting directly to the iN STUDIO Partners, you will have direct responsibility for design, translating client requirements from concept through completion.
  • You will bring finesse and professionalism to leading and managing the client relationship; meeting and interacting with clients to determine needs, scope, timeline, budget, and overall project considerations.
  • You will demonstrate value and deep expertise in the design process with a focus on the front-end design, while providing a high-level of service to sophisticated and knowledgeable clients.
  • Working as part of the Senior Team, you will have a role in the management of the Design Studio, with participation in project resourcing and within the various committees that we have established
  • You will have the opportunity to support and mentor more junior interior design team members through one-on-one team mentorship, knowledge sharing and support

At this stage in your career, you have gravitated toward Design and bring a minimum of 10 years’ experience working on all elements of corporate workplace interior design projects. You possess exceptional and refined design skills and a portfolio of truly beautiful, innovative design concepts and projects.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years’ experience as an Interior Designer in a design firm
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, M. Arch/ID
  • NCIDQ, ARIDO registered
  • LEED Certification is an asset
  • Proven experience working with Corporate Workplace design projects including renovation and new construction and contract administration
  • Excellence in design and design execution
  • Passion for design with a creative and innovative perspective
  • Exceptional verbal and written presentation and communication skills
  • Knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, color selections, and specifications Graphics and visualization skills to effectively communicate design ideas
  • Technically strong in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of Revit an asset
  • Strong knowledge of codes and regulations with design aspects in Canada & OBC, AODA
  • Ability to lead a complete project team, including sub-consultants, and prioritise activities and deadlines to project completion
  • Adept at managing multiple projects including project budgets
  • Advanced knowledge of sub-consultant and furniture RFP process and evaluation
